Commission an artwork
Commissioning a bespoke artwork is a collaborative and enjoyable process, allowing you to create a piece that is uniquely suited to your home, collection or project.
The best place to begin is by exploring my existing artworks and identifying pieces, colours, materials or compositions that resonate with you. You may wish to commission a variation of an existing work in a different size, colour palette or medium, or perhaps develop an entirely new concept inspired by several pieces.
Once you have an idea of what you would like, simply get in touch by email or via the contact form below. We can discuss your vision, preferred colours, dimensions, materials, budget and timescale. If the artwork is intended as a gift or for a specific event, please let me know as early as possible. Due to the highly detailed and labour-intensive nature of my work, I recommend allowing a minimum of four weeks for completion, although larger or more complex commissions may require additional time.
Every commission begins with a conversation. Together we refine the concept, explore possibilities and ensure the final design perfectly reflects what you are hoping to achieve. Throughout the process I share updates and photographs, allowing you to follow the artwork as it develops from initial idea to finished piece.
A Commission Story
One particularly enjoyable commission came from Jane and Mike Squire of Squires Fish Restaurant in Braunton, Devon. Having seen my polymer clay artworks The Golden One – Circle of Koi and Two Koi, they approached me about creating a large-scale fish artwork for their restaurant.
The project required developing an entirely new approach. Larger moulds had to be designed and produced, specialist backing materials sourced, and a secure mounting system engineered to support the finished artwork. Each fish was individually cast in polymer clay, fired, refined and finished with a protective resin coating to create a durable, high-gloss surface suitable for a public environment.
As the artwork evolved, we worked closely together to refine the design and ensure every detail reflected their vision. Once completed, each fish was carefully positioned and permanently mounted onto a custom-framed backing board fitted with heavy-duty fixings.
Commissions like this are among the most rewarding aspects of my practice. They offer an opportunity to create something truly personal and unique while combining creativity, problem-solving and craftsmanship to bring an idea to life.
