Adornment in Flight celebrates the beauty of small things made extraordinary through attention, patience and care. Inspired by the bee's role as a gatherer and pollinator, the sculpture transforms this familiar creature into a jewel-like object of contemplation, rich with colour, texture and light.
Hand-built and meticulously embellished, the bee is adorned with layers of hand-crafted polymer clay elements, shimmering crystals, metallic details and ornamental beads. Pink floral motifs bloom across its body while sparkling wings catch and reflect the light, creating a sense of movement and radiance despite the sculpture's stillness.
At the heart of the work is the slow, repetitive process of making. Each individual element has been carefully selected and applied by hand, building the surface piece by piece through a meditative rhythm of observation, placement and refinement. The circular halo of crystals surrounding the bee enhances its presence, creating the impression of energy, flight and quiet celebration.
Created as part of the Decoration Meditation collection, the artwork reflects a belief that decoration can be more than ornament. Through repetition, focus and mindful craftsmanship, the process itself becomes a form of meditation, transforming simple materials into something precious and restorative.
Balancing playfulness with elegance, Adornment in Flight invites viewers to pause, look closely and appreciate the beauty that emerges when attention is given to even the smallest details.
