Inspired by childhood days spent along the South Coast of England, Shore Lines reflects memories of sailing, windsurfing and wandering the shoreline in search of pebbles, shells and driftwood. It is a quiet celebration of the simple treasures gathered by the sea and the lasting connection we form with landscapes that shape us.
Each pebble is individually hand-moulded from pulped watercolour paper, creating a collection of delicate three-dimensional forms. The elements are painted with watercolour washes and finished with fine white linear markings inspired by the natural striations, layers and patterns found in coastal stones. Mounted on tiny plinths to cast subtle shadows, the pebbles are carefully arranged in flowing bands of colour, creating a sculptural composition that balances rhythm, texture and calm.
Through repetition, pattern and gentle tonal variation, Shore Lines evokes the meditative act of beachcombing and the enduring beauty of objects shaped slowly by the sea.
