Zellij Elephants is a celebration of pattern, symmetry and the meditative beauty found in repetition. Inspired by the intricate geometry of traditional Moroccan Zellij tilework, this sculptural relief transforms a timeless decorative language into a contemporary artwork rich in texture, light and detail.
Four hand-sculpted elephants emerge from a field of ornamental motifs, their surfaces covered in intricate patterns reminiscent of historic mosaics, carved plasterwork and architectural ornament. Arranged around a central geometric design, the composition balances movement and stillness, creating a sense of harmony and quiet order.
Each element has been individually shaped from polymer clay, impressed with decorative patterns and carefully finished by hand. Layers of cobalt, turquoise and white evoke sunlit courtyards, cool tiled fountains and the enduring beauty of handcrafted design traditions. Crystals and metallic accents are woven throughout the piece, catching the light and adding moments of sparkle amongst the richly textured surface.
Created through the slow, repetitive processes that define the Decoration Meditation collection, the artwork reflects the calming rhythm of making. Every motif is shaped, positioned and assembled with patience and attention, transforming countless small details into a unified whole.
Balancing sculptural form with decorative ornamentation, Zellij Elephants invites closer observation, rewarding the viewer with an ever-changing interplay of pattern, texture and light. It is both a celebration of craftsmanship and a meditation on the restorative power of beauty, symmetry and mindful creation.
